Description

Peatland is located on the edge of the Kõpu plateau, 36 km southwest of the city  Kärdla and formed by paludification in depression. The peat  feed on ground water and precipitation, the Baltic Sea is water recipient. The area of the peatland is 10.5 ha, of which 8.0 ha is peat deposit. The peat reserves are 0.02 million tons . The average thickness of the peat is  1.18 m and it consists of well-decomposed (45-60%) wood peat. The ash content of peat is 14.4%, pH 6. The deposit is partially drained, where bushes and woodland are spread. It is recommended to keep the deposit as it is, it is not included in the list of peatlands compiled by the Ministry of the Environmen ( Regulation no 87; 27.12.2016).
